Our Life in Northern Michigan

Life Update – Let’s Try This Again

Well hello there. It’s been a minute (or like, a year). Unless you saw my post from last week, this is the first time you’re hearing from me in quite a while. Why the long stretch of silence? I thought I’d share a bit of an update from the past several months and get everyone up to speed.

Last we talked, it was about this time last year. I had been posting a couple times a month for a while. I don’t remember if there was a real reason I stopped posting. Probably just that I wasn’t inspired about what to write about.

In the beginning, I started this blog with the intention of sharing our home renovations. Well, once I published the posts of our completed kitchen and completed living space, not much more needed to be done. Actually, that’s not true. There are still several projects we need to tackle, but the most necessary projects were finished.

Since last year, we haven’t done much else to the house. We still need to tile and trim the guest bathroom and laundry room. Trim needs to be hung in Kinley’s room. And we haven’t done anything to the three-season room/porch.

But, as it happens, life got busy and home projects got put on the back-burner. As some of you may know, Paul runs his own business called Surface Eco-Blasting. Once spring arrived last year, he was very busy. The success of the business last season was such a blessing, and I’m so proud of all of the hard work Paul put into it! The winter season has been slower now, but still steady, and things are already starting to pick up for the new year.

As for myself – I was keeping busy, too. I had been staying home with Kinley ever since she was born. Then, in the spring of last year, I took a position at Bloom Floral Design. I was hired on to work in the retail shop but also to train as a future part of the design team. By September of 2018, I was helping design weddings and enjoying it so much! Learning a new skill was so rewarding and the beautiful people I worked with made it even better. I’ve now been off for the season since the end of December and it’s been perfect timing because…

We’re expecting baby number 2! We couldn’t be more excited. This baby is due in June and… It’s a girl! We’re thrilled for Kinley to have a little sister. Kinley is so bright, she really seems to understand what is coming. She loves to kiss and hug my belly and talks about “baby” and “sister” all of the time.

Miss Kinley has her second birthday coming up in just about two weeks. We’re planning a fun little party to celebrate. She truly is the light of our lives!

As for the future of this blog… I’m really hoping to build something inspiring and personal. As I said, I started out sharing mostly our home renovation process. I still love all things reno and home decorating! Expect to see posts around this subject, still. I also plan to share more about marriage, pregnancy, motherhood, homemaking, life in Northern Michigan, etc.

In addition to this blog, I am now pursuing the path of freelance writing. So, I’ll be posting here but I am also working to post for other blogs and websites. This is a new adventure for me and I’m excited to use the writing skills I’ve always possessed to hopefully provide some support for our growing family. That being said, if you’ve read this far, and you ever know of anyone who needs writing work done for their website or blog, please reach out to me!

Hopefully this post has you somewhat caught up on whats been going on in our lives over here at Simply Stolts. I’m really excited to get back to a regular posting schedule with new and exciting content.

Thanks for being here and I hope you’re having a beautiful day, wherever you are.

xoxo, Kaeli
